Preveza is a city and port of Epirus. It is located at the southernmost tip of Epirus, next to the entrance to the Amvrakikos gulf. It is the e capital of the Prefecture of Preveza. In the 2011 census the population of the city had 19,042 inhabitants, while the population of the Municipal Community of Preveza was 20,795 inhabitants.
In the area of the Prefecture of Preveza there are archaeological findings that prove the habitation of the area from the Paleolithic years. Multiple findings testify to the habitation in the north of the Prefecture as early as 100,000 BC.
